john rustad bc conservative leadership change

Given the recent shift within the B.C. Conservative Party and its leadership change I wanted to offer a brief statement and some reassurances. Though my role as your MLA is non-partisan in nature, I recognize that many residents have reached out asking for my perspective as a member of the B.C. Conservative Party.

Following the leadership transition within the Conservative Party of British Columbia, I want to make it clear that it is business as usual in Salmon Arm–Shuswap. My work continues uninterrupted—advocating for improved infrastructure, pushing for long-needed upgrades to our hospital, supporting small farms and local businesses, and strengthening the long-term future of rural communities across our region.

A leadership race is a healthy and democratic step forward. It ensures that every Conservative member in British Columbia has a direct voice in selecting who may become our next Premier. This process strengthens accountability, encourages participation, and reflects the values at the heart of our movement.

Trevor Halford will serve solely as interim leader until members elect a new leader. I encourage all residents to stay informed, stay engaged, and continue helping shape the future of our province.

Sincerely,

MLA David L. Williams
