Canada Day! A time to celebrate the country we call home and everything that makes it so wonderful! A vast, diverse, and resilient nation built on the values of inclusion, respect, and community. From coast to coast to coast, Canadians celebrate not just our shared history, but the hopes we carry for a stronger, more unified future. Which we are working towards every day as your local representatives.

Here in the Salmon Arm–Shuswap region, we have so much to be proud of. Surrounded by mountains, lakes, and forests, our are is diverse in its beauty and ability to accomodate the longings of anyone 365 days of the year! Not to mention, our area is filled with communities not only rich in natural beauty, but also in heart and spirit. Whether it’s the vibrant farmers’ markets, family-run businesses, Indigenous cultural celebrations, or local festivals that bring people — the Shuswap is a place where the Canadian identity shines bright. Especially at the firework shows in Blind Bay & Sicamous!

As we gather with family and friends to wave flags, share meals, and watch fireworks, may we also look around and appreciate the people and places that make our slice of Canada so special.

I also want to take a moment to recognize the First Nations whose stewardship of this land has shaped the region for generations. The Neskonlith, Skwlax te Secwepemculecw, Splatsin, and Okanagan First Nations who have deep, living histories here that continue to guide us toward reconciliation and shared respect.

Happy Canada Day from the Salmon Arm–Shuswap constituency office and your MLA, David Williams! 🍁
