Born in Winnipeg and raised in Calgary, David Williams moved to Chilliwack at 17 before settling permanently in the Shuswap—an area he grew to love during summers spent there.

His deep ties to the region were a key reason he was approached by BC Conservative leader John Rustad to run for office.

“John wanted candidates who genuinely know and care about their communities,” Williams said.

Before entering politics, David worked in HVAC, real estate, and later as an appraiser and insurance specialist, mostly within the Shuswap. He says his political journey began out of concern over the direction of the province and a lack of strong opposition.

Now serving as MLA for Salmon Arm–Shuswap, David just finished the first 6 months of his term and has already zeroed in on several local and provincial issues including:

  • Land use and short-term rental regulations

  • Wildfire preparedness

  • Infrastructure upgrades (roads, broadband)

  • Renewing foreshore leases

  • Preserving the Historic O’Keefe Ranch, where he sits on the board

“I want to make sure our region gets its fair share of infrastructure investment-- and that the money is being spent wisely." -

David is opening a constituency office in Salmon Arm, welcoming residents to share concerns and ideas.

“We can’t address what we don’t know about. I’m here to listen and advocate.”
